Volcano

 Aim: to make a volcano we created erupt using chemical reactions

Hypothesis: I think that the volcano with definitely erupt when we add the chemicals.

Equipment: Our Volcano, Baking soda, vinegar, food colouring, dish washing liquid 

Method: first we made and painted the volcano add chemicals to make the volcano erupt then clean up after 

• warm water
• dish washing liquid
• red or orange food colouring
• baking soda
• vinegar

1. Pour warm water into the volcano until it is 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full.
2. Add several drops of food colouring.
3. Add a squirt of detergent. This helps the ‘lava’ foam up and flow.
4. Add a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda.
5. When you are ready to start the eruption, pour vinegar into your volcano.
6. You can recharge the volcano with more baking soda and vinegar.

Note: If you don’t have vinegar, you can use another acidic liquid, like lemon juice or orange juice.

Textiles

Making Hoddies 

lately in textiles we have been making a start to make a piece of clothing that we have decided to make Working with Madi we have started to outline material that we have choose to make our hoodie out of, We are making it out of polyester that is a material that in a smooth and shiny looking outside and a warm fluffy feeling on the inside , during the process we have cut out the outline onto paper to cut and trace on the material to be ready to cut , after that we are too get our material altogether and into order of how we are going to arrange it we will be over locking it on an over-locker machine  

Kiwifruit DNA exract

Aim - To separate and find the DNA in the kiwifruit

Ingredients - Ethanol, Salt, Detergent, Kiwifruit, Mortar, Pestle

Method
First we cut the the kiwifruit in half then we peeled and mashed the kiwifruit with and pestle and Mortar to help us mash it a lot easier we added the detergent in  , once it was mashed well we poured it into a zip lock bag and added a pinch of of salt to it not long after we added a little bit of ethanol at a time to the bag and mixed it around once we were happy with what it looked like we then waited a bit for the DNA cells to be relieved

This week in maths we have been doing algebra and learning ways of ordering the Letters in numbers when doing equations

Blood vessels carry the blood around your body and help to pump blood through to your heart the artery carry the blood from your heart then into the capillaries and then up to your veins and the back around again, its like a road , always going in the same direction 

Home Economics

Muffin Make-Over 
On Thursday 24th of October in home economics we made a healthier version of the Texas chocolate chip muffins the ways that we made it healthier was by taking out the whole milk and changing it to low unsweetened milk we swapped the flour with whole grain and white flour instead of butter we used canola oil we added baking powder instead of baking soda and we reduced the amount of sugar and chocolate chips that we used by doing this we were able to make 6 Texas muffins or 9 medium sized or 24 smaller sized muffins 

Dryed Ice

Method
First thing that we did was use the tongs to grabs the dryed ice because if you hold it for more than 1 second that it could burn your hand the after that we put dryed Ice into a beaker filled it up with water after that we watched it bubble up it started to get smokey after that I did it again but added detergent into it to see what would happen and it bubbled up and then when I touched it It would desepeared   

English Challanges

I sat on my porch in my ripped jeans and a oversized hoodie listening to the boy from across the street playing his guitar softly as I started deeply getting into the sound of his music and slightly falling asleep I started to see birds flying over me and then I heard a loud noise and Explosion my heart started beating really fast . I then saw cars crashing into each other it was Terrifying to witness. After I ran inside to get under cover and tried my best to get into contact with my parents and older sister I was shacking Nervously . I looked outside the window to see I the boy was ok but there was nothing but his guitar sitting lonely a loude noise from the door was in action I was not expecting anyone not with this going on I loocked around the corner and saw my mum and sister walking in my heart was at a slow Pulse again

Social Studies Term 1

This Term In Social Studies we have been learning about multiply types of fevers  The main one we have been based on with was The Black Plague
Black Plague : The black plague is a sickness that we spread a few year ago and I rarely around today people thought that it was coming from cats and then they killed all the cat so they after they killed most of the cats they then realised that they rats were the one carrying the fleas but they had killed the cats so the cats couldn't catch the rats and then people started getting sicker and sicker and then it eventually spread so far that they  all dies

Painting Process

Question One - What are concepts and what are developments ? Why is this important for developing art work ?

The Concepts are the starting point for when you start off with your work and then you start seeing things that you know you can improve and things that you like and Development is what your final produces are and the things that you too away from your Concepts this is important because for a developing you artwork because if you dont use concepts then you wont be able to develop anything 

Question Two - How have you use Colour Theory in your work 

I Have use colour theory because I have use cold and warm colours in multiple ways and by using colour tones and going from light to dark colours in a way

Question Three - What is the prossec of painting and how you have personally shown this in your work 

We started off with and under paint and then we added our warm and cold tones to them to make stand our more after that I outlined the patterns and the flower and then I re-Drew my eye :)

Concentration - Making a dilution series

Aim - Our aim was to a dilution series to investigate concentration

Method - 1. Place the 6 test tubes in the tube racks and label them from 1 to 6
2. using the measuring cylinder fill test tube 1 with 10 mL of water , fill the remaining test tubes with 5 mLs of water 3. using your tweezers add a single crystal of potassium permanganate to test tube one 4. gently shake the test tube till the crystal dissolves 5. using the transfer pipette carefully remove exactly 5 mLs from test tube 1 and pour it into test tube two 6. rinse the transfer pipette thoroughly to ensure that process transferring exactly 5 mls 7.gently shake test tube 2 and repeat  the transfer process transferring exactly 5 mls of solution from test tube 2 to test tube three 8.rinse the pipette again and repeat the transfer process for test tube 4,5, and 6

Equipment - A potassium permanganate crystal , six large test tubes , tweezers , a plastic transfer pipette , a test tube rack , 10 mL measuring cylinder

Home Economics - Chicken Stir fry

This week on Monday the 18th of February my foods class and I we  made Chicken sir fry the first thing that we did when we went into the foods room was talked about what we were making and we went through the instruction after that we washed our hand and the stared with our cooking 1st Madi got the chicken and started chopping it up , while Madi was chopping the chicken up kyra and I picked our 5 vegetables and sliced them into thin strips , the 5 vegetables that we had were Carrots, broccoli , Peas , corn  and Beans , after we chopped everything up and chopped the chicken up we made the dressing and put the chicken into a bowl with sesame oil after we let the chicken and sesame oil sit in the bowl together for a bit we started cooking the chicken when the chicken looked cooked we added the veges into the frying pan with the chicken. after that we waited for a bit before it was fully cooked and then we made some 2 minute noodle in the microwave and added those into the frying pan with the chicken and the vegetables after that we added the dressing in as well witch was honey sauce and soy sauce we waited for a while for it to be fully cooked the we dished them up and cleaned up. once we cleaned up the dishes the food was called down enough for us to eat it   

Whare Tapa Wha

Today we have been finishing off our whare tapa wha , Whare Tapa wha is where there are 4 wall on each wall has something to do with Hauora or also known as  the 4 well beings On one wall has something to do with Social on another wall has something to do physical well being on the next wall is Mental and emotional and on the last wall was  Physical well being on the roof we put what the well beings are and what we need them all for

Passion Project week 7

Today we are back at passion project. Today half of my group isn’t here so Milan and I are doing the work. So far today we have commented on each others blogs and assigned jobs for both Milan and I so far we have done most of our assigned jobs but we still have the rest of the day to carry on at period 5 we have to share what we have done today here is a photo of the last time me and my group shared

Hello , For kete this term we are doing this thing called passion projects there are many options to choose from the one that i'm doing is community sports , for this me and the rest of my group have decide to do netball so far during this I have learnt that It is not easy to organize such a big thing together we will get through this by working together and trying our best our next step is to wait for the principal from Hornby primary school

 Being Committed in Clubs 

To me when I hear the word Commitment it means that you have to be committed to whatever it is that you are doing. If you join a club for a sport and your parents pay the fees, you should make up your mind before that if you want to be committed or not.

Being Committed at School

Being committed at school means that if your teacher ask someone to do something and you say Yip i'll do it and then you decide halfway through it that you dont really want to do it anymore that is one way NOT to be committed your teacher picks people that they know that they can trust and that they think could finish the job so that you can get further in the near future 

Being Committed at Home 

when you get asked to do something like the dishes or get asked to fold the washing then just do it because you could get things for doing the dishes or folding the washing something that your parents might give as an award is something like having a day off the dishes or a day off the washing

Examples on Position in Netball

Netball can be confusing for some people as in people that play other sports but most people know how to play the sport and they don't actually know where they start so these are the positions on where you start before playing netball  

In netball you need 2 team of 6 to 7 people their first you or your coach needs to put you into you possion of either GS ( Goal Shoot ) , GK ( Goalkeeper ) WA ( Wing Attack ) WD ( Wing Defence ) GA ( Goal Attack ) GD (Goal Defence ) and C ( Center ) the Goal shooter and the Goalkeeper start in the half Circle The C starts in the little circle with the ball Wing Attack Stand on the same side as their team shooter and The Wing

Defence stand of the opposite side behind the line Goal Attack Stands on the opposite end of the wing attack and the Goal defence stands on the opposite side of the wing defence and defends the wings attack and then they all just defend their players and the attacks as GA , WA have to stand on the other side of the same line and as the other player so WA will stand on the same side as GD and they they both just attack their play ( NOT Attack as in Break them into pieces) and then the GS and GK try get the ball into the hoop (GS) and make the other team not get the ball into the hoop (GK) and the C starts off the game with the ball and in the centre circle and then you will hear a whistle and the game will start

At the end of the game you will hear another whistle and basically the team with most goals in the hoop wins the game then at the end both team will do their cheers and congratulate the other team
